Exporting your data
Your data is yours, and getting it out is a normal operation rather than a favour. Export before any irreversible step — closing a study, cancelling a plan, deleting an account.
Exporting survey responses
From a survey’s Responses list, choose Export. You pick:
- Format — CSV for analysis software and spreadsheets, JSON where you want the structure preserved.
- Password protection — optionally deliver the export inside an encrypted zip rather than a bare file.
About that password
If you protect an export, the password you type is the only way in, and it isn’t stored. Nobody at Indacas can recover it. Lose it and the fix is to export again.
That’s the right trade for data leaving the platform. Use it whenever an export is going anywhere other than straight into your own machine — email attachments and shared drives especially.
Exporting from a study
A study exports from its settings. You can export the study as a single archive, and choose which fields are included rather than taking everything — worth doing, because the smallest export that answers your question is the safest one to be carrying around.
Fields marked sensitive need a further privilege before they can be exported at all, so an export may legitimately contain less than you can see on screen.
Exports are logged
Bulk exports are recorded explicitly in the audit trail as data leaving the platform, with who exported and when. This is a feature: it’s the evidence an ethics committee or an institutional review asks for, and it’s readable in the study’s own audit log without asking us.
Downloads that don’t start
Exports are prepared and then downloaded. If a download doesn’t begin, check your browser hasn’t blocked it, and try again rather than requesting repeatedly.
For participants
Participants can see their own responses in each study. For a formal copy of everything a study holds about you, ask the study team — they’re the controller. See GDPR and your rights.
