Members and teams
Inviting people
Invites go out by email from the Invites page. You choose the role when you send it, and the invitation is listed until it’s accepted, so you can see what’s outstanding and revoke anything sent in error.
Someone who accepts becomes a member. If they don’t have an Indacas account yet, accepting walks them through creating one.
Roles
An organisation has four roles:
- Owner — full control, including the organisation’s existence.
- Admin — manages the organisation day to day: members, studies, shared resources.
- Billing — the subscription and billing details, without the rest of the administrative access.
- Member — takes part in the organisation’s work.
A member’s role can be changed later. Roles here are about the organisation; a study has its own roles, so being an organisation admin isn’t automatically a role on every study. See How studies work, and Roles and permissions for exactly what each role can do.
Teams
A team is a named group of members inside the organisation, with a description of what it’s for. Members can belong to more than one, and adding or removing someone from a team doesn’t change their organisation membership.
Use teams for the divisions your work already has — a lab group, a site, a project — so that “who’s on this” is written down rather than remembered.
Deleting a team removes the team and its data, permanently. The people in it stay members of the organisation.
Removing someone
Removing a member takes away their access to the organisation and everything shared through it. Removing them from a single team is the narrower action, and leaves them in the organisation.
